Barkin’ Dogs Foot Rub

A couple posts ago I talked about having some issues with the paint on one of my projects. I’m not sure why they didn’t cooperate, but if you’re going to spray paint your lids, I would suggest spraying them with a primer first.

Our temperatures dropped dramatically so I couldn’t repaint the two lids with issues. Instead, I covered them with fabric and ribbon. I preferred the  painted sleek look but because I was pressured for time, I had to go with the fabric for a last minute gift.

Of course the recipient didn’t know the difference so it was no big deal. You can see the fabric covered jars in the photo below.

If you’d like more home made body product ideas and recipes, I’ve created a category for Homemade Body Products on the right hand side of my main blog page. There you’ll find all kinds of fun things to make for you and your family or gifts for friends.

Barkin’ Dogs Foot Rub

*This recipe filled four 8 oz jars

1 Cup of Cocoa Butter

 Cup of Coconut Oil

1 Tablespoon of Extra Virgin Olive Oil

15 Drops of Lavender

1 Drops of Frankincense

10 Drops of Eucalyptus Globulous

8 Drops of Peppermint

In a medium saucepan melt the cocoa butter and coconut oil on medium low. Pour into a bowl and place somewhere cool until it is almost completely solidified. This will take a couple of hours. Don’t let it solidify too much though so keep checking!

Scrape the oils into a stand mixer with a whisk attachment and whip until smooth. Add the olive oil and whip until fully incorporated. Add the essential oil drops and whip until light and fluffy.

Spoon into decorated jars.

Homemade Intensive Organic Night Cream for Face & Neck

I have a lot of people tell me they aren’t creative or crafty in or out of the kitchen.

I don’t believe that’s true.

I believe that all of us, no matter who we are, have a little bit of art inside us of us.

The definition of an artist is: a person skilled at a particular task or occupation,  a person whose work shows creative ability or skill, a person who displays in his work qualities required in art, such as sensibility and imagination.

That’s all an “artist” is and we all have those skills and abilities in one way or another.

I can’t free hand draw, or paint beautiful water colors, or sew well, or sing well, play a sport, or even play an instrument.

But I can create. And I think creation is art.

I love to create a beautiful garden, a comfortable home, I love to create recipes, little craft projects, and I also enjoy making healthy face and body products.

Trust me, if any of it was difficult drudgery, I wouldn’t do it.

Art is something you LOVE to do that comes naturally to YOU.

Yesterday I focused on  making an organic anti-aging night cream.

It’s simple to make, it’s luxurious, and it’s a special treat for yourself and your loved ones.

Homemade Toner & Fabulous Face Cream

I’m in body care product making mode.

This seems to be a great time of year to do it and typically when I run out of all my favorites.

Yesterday I made gluten free, dairy free, non-toxic, fantastic for you Facial Toner.

Love it.

If you look carefully, you can see the “Mother” floating around in there. The “Mother” is made up of very beneficial living enzymes. You need to make sure you buy the good vinegar that looks cloudy and is organic. “Regular” vinegar manufacturers filter all of the good stuff out so they can have a prettier product.

I also made my Fabulous Face Cream.

I don’t know about you, but I’m 46 and my skin needs all the moisturizing and healthy products it can get.

It’s been abused by my love for the sun, stress, and unfortunately Lyme Disease likes to take a toll in every area, even your skin.

These are such relaxing projects, I can’t even tell you. It’s so much fun! Smells fantastic of course. Doesn’t break the bank like department store $$$$ creams, doesn’t load your body up with chemicals and toxins, and you can share the healthy love with your friends and family as gifts for the holidays. It’s win-win.

Have fun!
