Out With The Old, In With The New – My Corner Of The World

Ahhh…we made it through another year, and what a year it was! Crazy busy as usual. I keep waiting for them to slow down a bit so I can savor every moment but they keep getting faster and faster. I’m happy that I’m kind of a picture geek and captured several pictures over the months to remind me of what a great year it was. One resolution for this year will have to be to remind myself to take my camera on every adventure and daily outing. You just never know what fun and great photo ops you’ll run into. I can’t tell you how many times this year I said to my husband, “Dangit! And I was going to bring my camera too!” Missed opportunities…I don’t like to let those slide by.

Do you have big plans for ringing in the New Year? We always make big plans but most of the time we just end up snuggling up, sticking around home, and sound asleep by 10:30. But not tonight! The  plan is  to head into the city for First Night, a big celebration all over downtown with music, artists, and fireworks.

I always look forward to the New Year. I love starting fresh, getting re-organized, setting some goals for the new year, and saying goodbye to the parts of the old year I didn’t particularly like. Fortunately, those were few and far between.

May the New Year bring you a fresh outlook on life, abundant blessings, and a year filled with memorable moments with family and friends.

A Year In Review – 2011

Seemed like it took a lifetime for spring to arrive. But just when you think it will never get here, it shows up in all its glory.

Couldn’t wait to get out and get some fresh spring air. A road trip and day picnic was just what the doctor ordered for those long, winter blues. (Note to self…self portraits are rarely flattering. Ha!)

Gliding our way into late spring. Robins enjoying their bath time.

A game of “dog and mouse” in a nearby farmer’s field.

Our son’s high school graduation. My favorite memory from the year.

There goes my baby…

Nieces and nephew waiting to cheer him on. Their turns are coming all too soon!

The cheering section. Blessed to have such a loving and supportive family. Notice the epitome of the Italian grandfather. Pretending he’s not excited when you know he’s thrilled to see his first grandchild graduate.

A very proud father.

Celebrating and relaxing.

Summer finally finds its way and we are able to soak it up.

All too quickly fall rushes in. Luckily, it brings with it more fun and memories to be made.

The big house “project” begins… Still need to do before and after pictures.

A very relaxing and enjoyable Christmas celebration at my brother in law’s and sister in law’s new home.

And finally, welcoming the New Year and new memories to come.

Ice slide.

Bon fires along Spokane Blvd.

Yep, a dinosaur made completely from balloons.

Dinosaur art made from recycled materials and found items.

Watched a couple of comedians.

A local high school’s robotics competition at Mobius, a new children’s science fun center in the heart of downtown.

Late night snacks.

Joel Brantley performing in the Crescent Court. Went to high school with him. He has been performing for over 20 years. He lived and performed in Nashville and Las Vegas and now travels around the country performing in schools and being a positive role model against drug use and bullying. Wonderful voice!

Really enjoyed watching this family. Loved their music and voices.

Welcoming another wonderful year ahead!

    • That was pure luck that I caught those Robins. They never want to sit still for me. Our son’s graduation are my favorite photos of the year too. Made me all sniffly to look through them again! 🙂

  1. Such a nice collection of photos and I can only imagine how many more you have that didn’t “make the cut.” Wonderful! Happy New Year!
